In 2002 I discovered that I am a descendant of Miles Bowker, one of the British 1820 Settlers to South Africa. (He was my great-great-great-great-grandfather.)

I was always told that I was adopted, but it was only when I traced my birth mother that I really started working on my family tree and discovering who I really was. I was born Cryilene Carol Hayter in 1964. I was brought up by a wonderful family, sadly my adoptive father was killed when I was only 6 months old.
I have received help from my aunt on much of the family history and I have also found some through reading books on the internet and through visiting places and museums. In the following pages I have tried to put it all together.
